Government Matters: Suma Nair

Back to All Videos

As Covid-19 spread throughout the country, many of the urban poor and rural agricultural workers could not access tests, vaccines and life-saving drugs. A team from the Office of Quality Improvement at the Health Resources and Services Administration, led by Suma Nair, delivered over 20 million vaccine doses to communities in need.

  • Nair and her colleagues provided care to Americans, including healthcare providers, who were unable to reach large-scale vaccination events or were not comfortable engaging with them, she told Government Matters.
  • The administration came to Nair’s office because of its knowledge and relationship with 1,400 community health centers across the United States, she said.
  • Nair said they started with existing data to help patients and communities with a focus on equity.
