Government Matters: David Rader Tags: Government Matters Series Back to All Videos The Defense Department works to prevent adversaries from co-opting American technology and using it against the U.S. One aspect of this mission is monitoring and preventing hostile foreign government investments in American tech companies. DoD is now working with data scientists and professionals from finance, intelligence and policy to understand which technology to focus on, said David Rader, deputy director of the Office of Foreign Investment Review at DoD, finalist for a Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal and leader of the effort to improve investment monitoring.Rader said it is common for adversaries to steal American technology and while the government has controls to mitigate it, it requires constant attention.He said better engagement between government and industry will help reduce risks.
