Government Matters: Suma Nair Tags: 2022 Sammies, Government Matters Series Back to All Videos As Covid-19 spread throughout the country, many of the urban poor and rural agricultural workers could not access tests, vaccines and life-saving drugs. A team from the Office of Quality Improvement at the Health Resources and Services Administration, led by Suma Nair, delivered over 20 million vaccine doses to communities in need. Nair and her colleagues provided care to Americans, including healthcare providers, who were unable to reach large-scale vaccination events or were not comfortable engaging with them, she told Government Matters.The administration came to Nair’s office because of its knowledge and relationship with 1,400 community health centers across the United States, she said.Nair said they started with existing data to help patients and communities with a focus on equity.
